Previously, 122 deaths were known.

“As of 12:00 Monday, 131 people have died,” the message says.


The bodies of 35 people have been identified, eight bodies have been handed over to relatives.

Severe forest fires are raging in the Valparaiso region of Chile. The country’s President Gabriel Boric announced the introduction of a state of emergency in the region.
