The departure of the current Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, from her post will be an important factor in reducing the military rhetoric of the United States of America and the development of the world, said former Senator of the US state of Virginia Richard Black.
“If the Republicans take control, regardless of who ends up as speaker, it will be extremely important for the cause of peace than with Nancy Pelosi as speaker,” he said.
“She is very powerful, bloodthirsty and is the voice of war,” the ex-senator added.
If the Republicans gain control of the House of Representatives following the results of the congressional elections, the head of the Republicans in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, will become the majority leader and take the post of speaker.
Black, who has contested thirteen times in his political career and won twelve of them, believes McCarthy has yet to take the speakership if there is a potential competitor.
Republicans have repeatedly said they will seek cuts in aid to Ukraine if they win a majority and deprive Democrats of control in the legislature.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that he expects the continuation of American assistance to Ukraine, and expressed the hope that he would be able to agree on this with McCarthy, who spoke out against “open checks” to Kyiv.
