The FBI will help investigate the theft of an early 19th-century portrait of Washington.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced on the social network X that together with the police in Englewood, Colorado, it is investigating the theft of a portrait of US President George Washington painted in the early 19th century.

“The FBI Denver Division is assisting Englewood Police in the search for the missing painting,” the Denver FBI Office said in a statement.


According to police, a report of the theft of a painting from a storage facility was received on January 22. Washington’s portrait was painted at the beginning of the 19th century. Police are offering a reward of up to $2,000 for assistance in the investigation.
