The construction of the first Polish nuclear power plant will be carried out by the American company Bechtel, Polish Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskva told reporters.

“Today, another world nuclear energy giant is joining the project. This is the American company Bechtel, which will act as an executor in the project,” Mosckva said.

A corresponding agreement was signed in Warsaw on Thursday.

The minister also said that a nuclear energy training center would soon be opened in Poland.

“We will soon announce the opening of a training center with the American side,” Moskva said.

“The Nuclear Energy Training Center will serve not only Poland, but hopefully all countries in our part of Europe,” she added.

In accordance with the Polish nuclear power development program, the country plans to equip its first nuclear power plant with PWR reactors. It is assumed that in 2033 the first block will be launched, which will be located in the Gdansk coast area. Pre-project work is carried out by the American company Westinghouse. Subsequent units will be built every two to three years, and the entire nuclear program involves the construction of six units with a capacity of up to 9 GW.
