The German government ruled out the launch of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline

The German government excludes the launch of the Nord Stream 2 (NS-2) pipeline to resolve the country’s gas shortage. This was announced on August 8 by the official representative of the German Cabinet, Steffen Hebeshtreit.

“I say yes, the government rules it out. <…> It is clear that difficult months await us, that the reduction of gas supplies from Russia to Germany is a challenge for all of us,» he said at a briefing.

Hebeshtreit added that the German government has taken a number of measures to improve the situation, including the construction of terminals for receiving LNG.
