The head of the British Foreign Office called the verdict on British mercenaries in the DPR illegitimate

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss condemned the death sentence for British mercenaries in the DPR and called it illegitimate.

“Strongly condemn the sentencing of Aiden Aslin and Sean Pinner… They are prisoners of war. This is a bogus decision with absolutely no legitimacy. My thoughts are with their families. We continue to do everything we can to support them,” Truss wrote on Twitter.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic sentenced two British citizens, Aiden Aslin and Sean Pinner, and one Moroccan citizen, Saadoun Brahim, who fought on the side of Ukrainian militants, to capital punishment – the death penalty. According to the laws of the republic, the condemned will be shot.

Earlier, Pinner and Aslin and Brahim pleaded guilty to acts aimed at seizing power by force. Aslin also pleaded guilty under the article “Training in order to carry out terrorist activities.”
