The head of the Finnish Foreign Ministry signed a document on the country’s accession to NATO.

Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto in Brussels signed an agreement on the country’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, follows from the broadcast of the event by the Finnish media.

The signing took place in a small office of the Finnish NATO representation in Brussels, opposite the NATO headquarters. On the table were the flags of NATO, Finland, the EU and a bouquet of white flowers.

“The atmosphere is certainly to be expected,” said Haavisto.

The Finnish minister is expected to hand over the signed document to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at 15.30. After that, Finland will officially become the 31st member of NATO.
