If Germany approves the operation of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, this will mean the capitulation of Europe to Russia, says Robert Habeck, Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection of Germany

“The approval of Nord Stream 2 would again increase our dependence on Russian gas, [and this is] the exact opposite of what we have been working on here for the past six months (…), this is also capitulation with all the sanctions measures that we have taken” Habek said.

Nord Stream 2 was never put into operation due to the start of the Russian military special operation in Ukraine. Although some German politicians are calling for it to be put into operation as a matter of urgency, the German authorities are in no hurry to go no further.
