The IAEA Director General arrived at the Zaporozhye NPP.

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi arrived in the city of Energodar and on the territory of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.

He is at the nuclear power plant on a working visit. Grossi is accompanied by adviser to the general director of Rosenergoatom Renat Korchaa. The situation in the city itself will remain calm.

This is Grossi’s second visit to Zaporozhye NPP and the first since September 1 last year, when the permanent presence of IAEA experts at the facility was agreed. As the organization explained, he went to the ZNPP to “personally assess the serious situation with nuclear safety at the facility and emphasize the urgent need to protect it during the ongoing military conflict in the country.”

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, in turn, noted that “in the foreseeable schedule of contacts” Vladimir Putin is not scheduled to have contacts with Grossi.
