Meta has set up a special working group to resolve the issue of returning access to blocked accounts on Facebook and Instagram to former US President Donald Trump.

The panel that will discuss the issue of Trump includes staff from the public policy and communications departments, as well as from the content policy department.

As noted, earlier the final decisions on moderation were made by the head of the company, Mark Zuckerberg, who is now focused on his vision of the metaverse. Nevertheless, the publication does not exclude that he may intervene in the process as a CEO and controlling shareholder.

A decision on Trump’s accounts is expected to be made during January.

Trump lost access to the Facebook platform and other social networks while still being the outgoing US president in early January 2021. The deactivation of Trump’s accounts came after repeated warnings and temporary blocking of his statements, and was motivated by alleged security interests. The ex-president has repeatedly criticized Facebook and other companies for infringing on their rights and censoring in favor of the Democrats.
