The President of the Central African Republic announced external interference in the affairs of the country.

The President of the Central African Republic announced external interference in the affairs of the country.

The Central African Republic (CAR) is facing external interference, unable to ensure its security and defense capability due to an arms embargo against its government, said CAR President Faustin-Archange Touadéra at the opening of the Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries in Qatar.

“The CAR has made progress on security issues and national reconciliation, but it is not enough because of the illegal and unjust arms embrago, which is outside interference and prevents the government from implementing a national program to increase defense capabilities,” Touadera said.

In addition, the CAR president accused international partners of creating obstacles to the development and progress of the country due to the suspension of assistance from international organizations to its government.

“Without financial and technical assistance from international partners, the EU, the World Bank, the conditions for the transition to prosperity are difficult, and the population of the Central African Republic has been held hostage, so the republic calls for lifting the measures to suspend financial assistance introduced three years ago,” the president added.

On Sunday, the Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries, which includes the Central African Republic, began in Doha.
