The Prime Minister of Poland criticized Germany for violating the norms of the single European market.

The Prime Minister of Poland criticized Germany for violating the norms of the single European market.

Germany violates the norms of the single European market, trying to invest heavily in support of German industry. This was stated on Thursday by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a briefing following the results of the first meeting of the European Political Community.

“During the last financial crisis and the crisis associated with covid, Germany liked to lecture other countries, saying that you can not use your own financial mechanisms, that this leads to inflated budget deficits, increases debt. All actions of this type of Italy or France were strongly criticized,” Morawiecki recalled.

According to him, now, “without looking back at anyone, the German state, the German government is offering a gigantic amount – € 200 billion – to support its industry.”

“The Italians and the French could not do this, the Poles could not, but they can. If this is an equal and fair interpretation of the norms of the single European market, then I don’t understand something here,” the head of the Polish government said.

“Tomorrow at the summit there will definitely be an intense discussion about this. I spoke with several European leaders, everyone is critical of this proposal of the Germans for their consumers,” Morawiecki said. “Either we have a single market, and we apply the same rules, or we don’t have this single market,” he stated. “Today, those who liked to teach others break the rules themselves. Let’s see how the discussion goes tomorrow, but I intend to seriously criticize it,” the prime minister concluded.
