Port staff strikes have begun in Germany’s largest harbors, protesters are in favor of higher wages.

“In the course of negotiations with the Central Association of German Ports (CNP) on the issue of increasing the wages of port workers, an agreement could not be reached, they were suspended,” the workers’ organization said in a statement.


The document adds that for this reason, thousands of employees in various harbors of Germany must join the 48-hour strike.


The workers are demanding a wage increase of €1.2 per hour and an inflationary compensation of 7.4% if the employment contract is for more than 12 months.
