The process of reintegration of the Armenian population of Karabakh will be difficult, Ankara hopes that it will proceed calmly, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said.
“The process of reintegration of the Armenian population of Karabakh, in accordance with the norms arising from the constitution of Azerbaijan, has begun. This is a complex process, we accept it. We hope that it (the process) will be completed without loss of life, drama and tragedy,” the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.
Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev said on September 22 that the integration of Karabakh Armenians into the economic, political and social life of Azerbaijan will be difficult, and one must be prepared for the fact that some will not accept this policy and decide to leave. At the same time, President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly stated that the Armenians of Karabakh will have the same rights as citizens of Azerbaijan. According to the Armenian authorities, before the latest exacerbation, 120 thousand people lived in the region.
