The Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Dutch ambassador after the desecration of the Koran in The Hague.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Dutch ambassador to Ankara in connection with the action of a radical in The Hague, during which he tore out pages from the Koran and burned them, the foreign ministry said.

The leader of the far-right Pegida movement, Edwin Wagensveld, staged an action in The Hague on Monday, tearing out several pages from the Koran, then burning them.

“The Dutch ambassador in Ankara was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, he was strongly protested and condemned for this vile and disgusting act. We demanded that the Netherlands not allow such actions,” the statement says.
