The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry criticized the words of the President of Brazil about the Crimea.

The press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko criticized the words of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Earlier, the President of Brazil said that his country stands for the territorial integrity of every nation and does not agree with the actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

“Crimea may not be subject to discussion… Although Zelensky cannot want everything he wants. All this is a topic that should be brought up for discussion,” he added.

According to Nikolenko, Ukraine’s position remains unchanged.

“Any mediation efforts to restore peace in Ukraine must be based on respect for the sovereignty and full restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter,” he said.

“Media: the President of Brazil proposes to give Crimea to Russia in order to end the war. Ukraine appreciates the efforts of the President of Brazil to find solutions to stop Russian aggression. At the same time, we must clearly note: Ukraine does not trade its territories,” Nikolenko wrote on the social network.

Earlier, the President of Brazil said that Russia is the guarantor of long-term peace throughout the world. He has already taken the initiative to develop a new international format to create an opportunity for dialogue between Moscow and Kiev, stressing that he is ready, if necessary, to mediate direct negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky.
