The UN called the talks in Istanbul on the grain issue positive

Deputy Spokesperson of the UN Secretary General Farhan Haq called positive the talks held in Istanbul on the export of Ukrainian and Russian grain, as well as fertilizers from the Russian Federation.

“He will burn with you soon. But, it is important that we believe that this is something positive. And he will tell you why,” Haq said, responding to a briefing request to comment on the talks in Istanbul.

Earlier, he announced that UN Secretary General António Guteres would address the press on the evening of July 13 in connection with the Istanbul talks.

Negotiations between the military delegations of Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the UN delegation on the settlement of the “grain issue”, held in the Kalender mansion in Istanbul, ended on Wednesday.

Earlier, a diplomatic source told that there are high hopes for a consensus in today’s meeting. According to him, the negotiations take into account both Moscow’s fears and the presence of sanctions in the insurance, logistics and banking sectors for the export of Russian agricultural products.
