The UN Secretary General expressed readiness to meet with Lavrov in New York in April.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres is ready to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his visit to New York in April, if such a request is received from the Russian side, Stefan Dujarric, spokesman for the Secretary General, said at a briefing.

Russia will chair the UN Security Council in April. It is expected that Lavrov will take part in a number of meetings of the Security Council.

Asked if the UN Secretary General plans to meet with Lavrov, Dujarric said: “If he comes to New York and there is a request for a meeting, of course, the Secretary General will meet with him.”
