UN Secretary General António Guterres welcomed the agreement of all parties to resume the food deal.

Earlier, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov said that the grain deal would be extended for 120 days. Later this information was confirmed by Vladimir Zelensky.

“I welcome the agreements of all parties to continue the Black Sea Grain Initiative to ensure safe navigation in the export of grain, food and fertilizer from Ukraine,” the Secretary General said in a statement to journalists.

The statement said the UN is fully committed to supporting the joint coordinating center “to keep this vital supply chain running smoothly.” The UN Secretary General added that the UN is fully committed to removing the remaining obstacles to the export of food and fertilizers from the Russian Federation.

According to Gutteres, the grain deal continues to demonstrate the importance of careful diplomacy in the context of seeking multilateral solutions.
