The United States conducted a successful test flight of a hypersonic missile, according to a released statement by the US Department of Defense.

“The hypersonic air-breathing version of the Lockheed Martin missile completed the program, achieving all of its original goals,” the report said.

It is noted that the last launch was the final test flight of the hypersonic air-breathing missile project (HAWC), which the US Air Force conducted jointly with the Pentagon Advanced Research Projects Agency (DAPRA).
As part of the tests, the rocket flew at a speed above Mach 5 (6125 km / h) at an altitude of more than 60 thousand feet (18.3 km) for a distance of 300 nautical miles (555.6 km).
