The United States filed a lawsuit against Huawei because of the company’s equipment near missile silos

The administration of US President Joe Biden is investigating the Chinese telecommunications company Huawei because of cell towers located near American missile silos.

The Department of Commerce launched an investigation in early 2021. Authorities feared that towers equipped with the company’s equipment may be intercepting confidential information from US military bases, which Huawei could subsequently transfer to China.

Huawei did not respond to a Reuters request for comment. The Commerce Department was unable to confirm or deny the agency’s information about the investigation, but noted the importance of protecting US citizens from the collection of confidential information.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington did not respond to specific questions, but said in an email that the US government is abusing the concept of national security and state power and accusing Huawei and other Chinese telecommunications companies without evidence of obstructing their work.
