The United States is using the problems of the Korean Peninsula against China, according to Beijing.

Liu Xiaoming, the Chinese government’s special representative for the Korean Peninsula, said the United States is using regional tensions to strengthen its alliance against China.

“We are concerned about the US intention to use the Korean Peninsula issues as a tool to contain China… This is part of their Indo-Pacific strategy… to unite allies, strengthen the alliance with (South Korea) and Japan,” Liu Xiaoming said.

As Liu Xiaoming points out, “People are now focused on nuclear launches and testing by the DPRK, but they do not take into account the fact that the reason they are doing this is because there is no security mechanism and structure.

Liu Xiaoming added that European leaders should “convince the Americans to solve the security problems” of the DPRK.

Earlier, the South Korean Ministry of Defense reported that Seoul, Washington and Tokyo, as a result of the Tripartite Defense Dialogue at the level of Deputy Defense Ministers (DTT), agreed to conduct regular missile defense and anti-submarine defense exercises in order to counter the growing threats from North Korea. This is the first DTT meeting since 2020, after which no dialogue took place due to the COVID-19 pandemic and tensions between Seoul and Tokyo. It was decided that the next dialogue session would be held in Seoul in 2024.

Earlier it was reported that the DPRK on Thursday for the first time tested a new solid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile Hwaseong-18. North Korean State Affairs Chairman Kim Jong-un personally supervised the test launch.
