The US Department of Transportation lifted restrictions on flights with Cuba adopted by ex-President Trump

The U.S. Department of Transportation said the administration has lifted restrictions on flights to Cuba under former President Donald Trump.

“By this executive order, the U.S. Department of Transportation, acting at the request of the Department of State, is lifting previous measures restricting certain types of air services between the U.S. and Cuba,” – it was said in a statement.

The restrictions adopted in 2019 and 2020 apply to scheduled and charter flights between the US and Cuba. The Department of Transportation added that it had granted the request of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to “cease all restrictions on civil aviation flights between the United States and Cuba, which were implemented in response to previous State Department requests set out in letters dated October 25, 2019, January 7, 2020 and August 13 2020”.
