The United States sees no sign that Russia is going to use nuclear weapons, but intends to continue monitoring and keep channels of communication open, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said.

“We have no indication that Russia has decided to use this kind of means, and also see no need to change the readiness of our strategic forces. We will continue to monitor this closely … and we will also continue to keep communication channels open,” he said.
