The White House is trying to prevent a meeting between Putin and Biden at the G20.

US officials are doing everything possible to prevent a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden at the G20 summit in Indonesia.

Citing US officials, they are taking measures so that Biden does not collide with his Russian counterpart in the corridor and does not cross paths with him while taking a group photo of leaders at the G20 summit.

During his presidency, Biden met with Putin only once at the Geneva summit in 2021.

Earlier, John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the National Security Council, said that the US president does not plan to meet with his Russian counterpart at the G20 summit. In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, answering a question about possible contacts between the presidents of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden at the summit, said that Russia does not refuse negotiations with the United States on the sidelines of the G20 summit.

The G20 summit is due to take place on the Indonesian island of Bali on November 15-16.
