Trump opens beef with Saudi Prince over Fox News

Trump opens beef with Saudi Prince over Fox News

Controversial businessman and Republican front runner in the 2016 race for the presidential ticket, Donald Trump is yet involved in another Twitter feud. Trump is one candidate that makes use of the social media, though he said he was going to shut the internet to fight ISIS. This time, Trump is in a feud with Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, a Saudi business magnate and owner of The Kingdom Holding Company. Prince Alwaleed’s investment firm, Kingdom Holding Company, does own a stake in Fox News’ parent company, 21st Century Fox, worth about 6.6 percent of the company.

War of words on Twitter

According to CNBC, the Republican presidential candidate retweeted a photoshopped image of Al-Waleed and Fox news anchor Megyn Kelly on Thursday which included the following text: “Most people don’t know that the co-owner of Fox News is Prince Al-Waleed of Saudi Arabia here with his sister and with host Mygan Kelly [sic]. In case you only watch Fox News and you missed it everywhere else. Google it.”

Trump and Al-Waleed have a long history

The recent Trump-Al-Waleed feud is borne out of Trump’s ongoing rift with Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly and his decision to skip the Fox News debate on Thursday. It is also clear that the two businessmen have a long history. Donald Trump is taking his fight with Fox News to a different level, for having ties with Saudi Arabia. Prince Al-Waleed shot back by replying Trump: “Trump:You base your statements on photoshopped pics? I bailed you out twice; a 3rd time, maybe?”

It appears that Alwaleed really has bailed Trump out twice, by purchasing Trump assets to save him from debts. This is not the first time that Trump and the Saudi prince have clashed on Twitter. After Trump proposed his plan to ban Muslims from the United States in December, Alwaleed took offense: “You are a disgrace not only to the GOP but to all America. Withdraw from the U.S presidential race as you will never win.” As expected, Trump shot back: “Dopey Prince @Alwaleed_Talal wants to control our U.S. politicians with daddy’s money. Can’t do it when I get elected.”
