Truss resigns as Prime Minister of Great Britain.

British Prime Minister Liz Truss has announced she is stepping down less than two months after her appointment as leader of the Conservative Party and head of the British government.

“I acknowledge that, given the situation, I am unable to fulfill the responsibilities of the mandate entrusted to me (Prime Minister), for which I was elected by the Conservative Party. Therefore, I have contacted His Majesty the King to inform him that I am resigning as leader of the Conservative Party,” she said in an address broadcast by Sky News.

The politician clarified that she would remain head of government until her successor was elected.
