Turkey responded to Czech Republic for criticism of Erdogan

The recent comments against Ankara by the Czech Republic are “without meaning and value,” the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today, September 6.

A sharp rebuke from the Turkish side came after the Czech Republic, which currently holds the EU Council Presidency, criticized President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s warnings to Greece about the southern European country’s “increasingly hostile and aggressive actions” against Turkey.

Ankara will continue to resolutely defend its legitimate rights and interests in the Eastern Mediterranean, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Tanju Bilgic said.

The Czech Foreign Ministry called earlier Erdogan’s remarks “unacceptable“, indicating that Prague intends to use its presidency to “promote dialogue between the EU and Turkey.”
