Turkey’s President to virtually attend D-8 summit

Recep Tayyip Erdogan virtually attends the 10th summit of the D-8 hosted by Bangladesh. The online meeting on Thursday gathers the leaders from eight countries like Bangladesh, Egypt, Nigeria, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan and Turkey.

D-8 organized under the theme “Partnership for a Transformative World: Harnessing the Power of Youth and Technology”. In addition, the president of the Islamic Development Bank was invited as a special guest for D-8 meeting of the high-ranking persons from eight nation members.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan will hand over the D-8 term presidency that it has undertaken since October 20, 2017 to Bangladesh at the summit.

According to the organizers, D-8’s agenda includes commercial and economic cooperation issues, the member states also discusses the regional developments and the health crisis caused by the COVID-19.

The 10th summit will aim to accelerate cooperation activities in various fields within the organization, to reveal the vision for the future and to draw a roadmap in this respect. in addition, two documents — the Dhaka Declaration and the D-8 Decennial Roadmap for 2020-2030 — are expected to be adopted.
