US chief of staff says China intercepted US ships

The Chinese military has become much more likely to intercept American ships in the air and at sea. This was stated by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States of America Mark Milley.

“The number of sea and air interceptions carried out by China has increased significantly over the past five years,” he said.

The US chief of staff, while on board the plane as part of a trip to Indonesia and Australia, added that the Chinese army has become “noticeably more aggressive in this particular region,” but he did not specify how many incidents were recorded.

Milley noted that he discussed unsafe interceptions during a telephone conversation with Chinese General Li Zuocheng. The Chinese military leader responded by warning the United States against engaging in “provocations,” he said.
