US police arrested a man with ammunition and fake police badge outside Capitol

American police on Friday reported the arrest of a man with a fake law enforcement ID, ammunition and ammunition near the Capitol.

“Friday morning, a Michigan man was detained outside the US Capitol after being found in possession of a fake [police] badge, air pistol, body armor, high-capacity magazines and other ammunition,” the Capitol Police website said in a statement. The suspect was a 53-year-old retired police officer.

As noted in the statement, the man introduced himself to the police as a criminal investigator, presenting a fake ID that said “Interpol Department”.

The cause of the incident is being investigated. The man is charged with illegal possession of ammunition and high-capacity magazines, police said.
