Vučić called on Albanians and Serbs to keep the peace in Kosovo and Metohija.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called on Albanians and Serbs to maintain peace in Kosovo and Metohija, stressing that Kosovo Serbs are not to blame for the current increase in tension in the province.

Vučić held the National Security Council of Serbia on Sunday evening after the Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, called on the NATOKFOR contingent to remove Kosovo Serb barricades from the roads in the north of the edge of the Kosovo Serb barricade and threatened that in case of refusal of the NATO command, the Kosovo security forces were ready to carry out the operation themselves. Kurti on Monday night visited the Belvedere base of the Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, which is used by the ROSU special police unit.

“It is important for us to call on the Albanians and, of course, the Serbs to maintain peace and calm the situation. I call on the Serbs in the north of Kosovo to be restrained, collected, peaceful, not to succumb to provocations. These are dramatic days for us, in which there is no fault of ours, if because of something we can be calm, it is because our conscience is clear,” the Serbian leader wrote on the social network and posted a video from the meeting of the Security Council.

But when you are so cornered, there is no other choice, you have to fight. We just want to save our people, so that they stay at their homes,” Vučić emphasized.

Monday night and morning on the barricades that Kosovo Serbs set up on highways in the northern municipalities because of the actions of Pristina passed peacefully. Local media have reported sounds of gunfire in areas where the barricades are located, but there is no evidence of casualties or damage to property.
