Xi Jinping expressed his readiness to help Central Asia strengthen its defenses.

China is ready to help the countries of Central Asia strengthen their defense capabilities, Chinese President Xi Jinping said Friday at the China-Central Asia Summit in Xi’an.

“China is ready to help the countries of Central Asia strengthen the capacity of their law enforcement agencies in the field of security and defense, as well as support countries in their efforts to maintain regional security and fight terrorism,” Xi Jinping said.

He also noted that China will continue to play a role in the coordination mechanism of Afghanistan’s neighbors and promote the peaceful reconstruction of Afghanistan.

The China-Central Asia summit is being held in the Chinese city of Xi’an on May 18-19 under the chairmanship of Xi Jinping. It is also attended by the Presidents of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
