The United States is the most powerful driving force behind the militarization of space and the biggest threat to space security. Beijing calls on Washington to stop spreading false statements and building up weapons in space, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said, commenting on Pentagon statements about “anti-satellite weapons” of the PRC and the Russian Federation.

Earlier, a senior Pentagon official accused Russia and China of developing and deploying both ground-based and orbital-based anti-space weapons.

“For a long time, the United States has been constantly repeating the old theory of the “Chinese space threat”, slandering and denigrating China, but this is only a search for justification for expanding its own military power in space and maintaining military dominance,” the Foreign Ministry said.

So they noted that, in fact, “the United States openly defines space as a battlefield, actively develops military potential in outer space, and provokes confrontation between major countries.”

“They are the most powerful driving force behind the militarization of space and its transformation into a theater of military operations, as well as the greatest threat to space security,” the department said.

Foreign Ministry officials noted that China advocates the peaceful use of outer space, opposes the arms race in outer space, and strives to promote the negotiation and conclusion by the international community of a legal instrument on arms control in outer space, so as to maintain peace and security in outer space.

“We again call on the American side to stop spreading false statements, stop building up arms and preparing for war in outer space, and truly take due responsibility,” the department emphasized.
