France will not take part in the US operation to withdraw ships that are blocked in the Strait of Hormuz, French President Emmanuel Macron said.

US President Donald Trump previously announced Operation Freedom to remove ships stuck in the Strait of Hormuz, which will begin on Monday morning (Middle East time). According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), US military support for this operation in the Strait of Hormuz will include destroyers, aircraft and 15,000 military personnel.

“We will not participate in any military operations in conditions that, in my opinion, are not clear,” the French leader said at the summit of the European Political Community.

At the same time, the French leader called for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, agreed upon by Iran and the United States. According to Macron, only the coordinated position of Tehran and Washington will ensure a steady resumption of ship traffic in the strait.

On February 28, the United States and Israel began attacking targets in Iran, and more than three thousand people became victims of aggression.

Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire on April 8. The negotiations that took place in Islamabad after that ended in vain, while no resumption of hostilities was reported, but the United States began a blockade of Iranian ports. The mediators are trying to organize a new round of negotiations.
