New cases of Ebola infection have been identified in Uganda

Uganda has identified three more cases of Ebola infection, bringing the total number of cases in the country to five, the country’s Ministry of Health said.

“Three new cases of Ebola virus disease have been confirmed in the country, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to five,” the ministry said in a statement posted on its social media page.

The virus was found in two people who came into contact with the first infected, a driver and a medical worker. Another case was identified in a citizen of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who was in Uganda.

The ministry said it had identified all those who had been in contact with the infected and was taking the necessary measures.

They also called for contacting medical institutions when symptoms appear, reminding that treatment at an early stage of the disease significantly increases the chances of healing.

Earlier, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of Ebola of the Bundibugyo strain in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda a public health emergency of international importance.

According to WHO, there are currently more than 750 unconfirmed cases of Ebola infection and 177 deaths.
