Another earthquake occurred off the coast of Taiwan.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred off the east coast of Taiwan, the Chinese Seismological Center reported.


It is reported that the tremors occurred at 18.50 local time in Hualien County, the source was located at a depth of 10 kilometers.


There were no reports of casualties or damage.
Earlier, China Central Television, citing Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau (CWB), reported that after the strong earthquake that occurred on April 3, aftershocks were still occurring on the island. In addition, within an hour, starting at 17.52 on Monday, 10 aftershocks occurred in a row in Hualien County, two of which exceeded magnitude 5. The number of aftershocks in Hualien County since April 3 has reached 935.

According to statistics, tremors in Hualien County, located in the eastern part of Taiwan, occur more often than in other areas of the island. In February 2018, a devastating earthquake of magnitude 6.5 killed 16 people and injured another 285. On April 3, a strong earthquake occurred off the coast of Hualien County, the magnitude of which was estimated by the China Seismological Center at 7.3. The earthquake killed at least 12 people.
