It is almost impossible to eradicate COVID-19, the WHO said.

COVID-19 will never be completely eradicated because the way it is transmitted from animals to humans is too difficult to deal with, Mike Ryan, Executive Director of the WHO Health Emergencies Program, said at a briefing.

“It’s almost impossible to completely eradicate COVID-19, but we can end the health emergencies it creates,” he said.

Ryan explained that due to its transmission from animal to human and vice versa, the complete eradication of COVID-19 is unlikely.

On Friday, the World Health Organization (WHO) canceled the COVID-19 global pandemic status declared in 2020.
