German Chancellor Scholz, at a press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, announced the possibility of signing a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan this year.

“We have many topics to discuss. At the meeting we discussed the issue of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. It is good that the leaders of the two countries are in dialogue. I received news of the beginning of the delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This is a very positive step. I believe in the signing peace agreement this year,” Scholz said.

On Friday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev took part in the high-level segment of the XV Petersberg Climate Dialogue, held in Berlin. Afterwards, Aliyev held talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in an expanded format.
