The US said it had no information about the condition of the hostages being held by Hamas.

The US administration does not have data on the health of hostages held by members of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, White House spokesman John Kirby said on Thursday.

“We simply don’t have the ability to know the health status of hostages on a case-by-case basis,” Kirby told reporters when asked whether there was evidence that hostages being held by Hamas were alive and well.

The White House spokesman added that the United States aims to return home all hostages, regardless of whether they are alive or not.

Kirby concluded by noting that Hamas’ hostage exchange proposal is “still on the table” and called on the movement to accept it as soon as possible.
