US President Donald Trump has once again stated that the conflict in Ukraine may soon come to an end.
⠀
On Thursday, Vladimir Zelensky published a letter on his website in which he invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold a meeting in a third country.
⠀
Peskov said that Putin had been given a written version of Zelensky’s “open letter”, and the Russian president had read it. During the SPIEF plenary session, Putin responded to Zelensky’s letter.
⠀
“Let them negotiate. I brought the situation to this stage, and I think everything will be fine. I think we’re getting close,” Trump told reporters.
⠀
The American leader also called the number of victims of the Ukrainian conflict on both sides unacceptable.
⠀
The talks between Putin and Trump took place in Alaska on August 15, 2025. The meeting took place at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage. The Presidents discussed ways to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. Both leaders described the meeting positively.
