China’s Permanent Mission to the UN commented on the US draft resolution on North Korea

China does not believe that the US draft resolution on tougher sanctions against the DPRK can solve any problem, the press service of the Permanent Mission of China to the UN told reporters.

A vote on the US draft resolution in the UN Security Council is scheduled for Thursday, a source in the Security Council told earlier. The project proposes to reduce the allowable volumes of supplies of oil and oil products to North Korea as a punishment for the next missile launches by the DPRK. In addition, the text, a copy of which is at the disposal of RIA Novosti, contains the name of the person, as well as a number of structures whose assets are proposed to be frozen.

“We do not think that the resolution proposed by the United States can solve any problem,” the press service said.

They also noted that China proposed to consider the possibility of adopting a statement by the chairman of the Security Council on the situation with the DPRK.

“Our proposal was supported by many delegations, but was ignored by the United States. They know the best way to de-escalate, but they simply resist it,” the Chinese permanent mission said.
