Italy declassifies document on pro-Russian sentiment in media and blogosphere

The Italian government has declassified a document on pro-Russian sentiment in the local media and among bloggers after a publication in the newspaper Corriere della Sera about an investigation by the Italian Parliament’s Security Committee (Copasir) against Italian citizens who are allegedly part of pro-Russian propaganda in Italy.

On Friday morning, a representative of the leadership of the Council of Ministers, Franco Gabrielli, who is in charge of the state security of the republic, denied the information about the “dossiers maintained by the intelligence services” against pro-Russian journalists, experts and bloggers, ordered to declassify the report “on disinformation during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict”.

“I hope that its full reading will lead to a permanent end to any dishonorable national intelligence or fictitious government policies aimed at restricting the right to information,” he said in a communiqué.
