Romania says it has produced first gas from the Black Sea

The first gas from the Black Sea entered Romania’s national gas pipeline system on Wednesday. This was announced by Energy Minister Virgil Popescu.

“It’s official!” he wrote. “The first gas from the Black Sea entered the national transport system today. This is gas from the Ana field in the Midia perimeter, which is operated by Black Sea Oil & Gas.”

Black Sea Oil & Gas said it plans to produce 0.5 billion cubic meters this year. m of gas. The Romanian government issued a statement on Wednesday stating that “natural gas production in the Midia perimeter will provide 10% of national consumption per year and bring Romania closer to energy independence.”
