New ad for Spanish brand Zara offends religious people in Turkey

Netizens were outraged by a fashion retailer’s campaign that used bread as a shoe holder. It is noted that Turkish users saw in the publication a dismissive attitude towards the product, since it has a sacred religious significance in the country.

In this regard, residents of Turkey launched the hashtag #zarahaddinibil (“Zara, know when to stop”) on the social network, calling on the brand to apologize.

“As children, when we saw bread lying on the road, we were told that it was a blessing. We never stepped on it: we either put it higher or moved it to where the animals could eat it”, “What is it? Disgusting advertising. Bread, which should be above all, is trampled”, “Bread symbolizes work, justice, sweat, unity. Somewhere people do not have enough bread, and somewhere global companies put it in their shoes for advertising, ”they said.

It is known that this is not the first advertising campaign of the brand Zara, which caused a wave of indignation among buyers. In May, the mass-market brand published pictures of the summer shoe line. One of the frames showed high heeled shoes with blue laces, on which melted ice cream balls were located.
