Turkey expects Sweden and Finland to meet Ankara’s demands for NATO membership

The administration of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan still expects Sweden and Finland to take concrete steps to join NATO and fulfill Ankara’s demands.

This was stated by the representative of the President of Turkey Ibrahim Kalin.

“NATO is a security organization. It is not a choice, but a necessity for those who become a new member to abide by the principles. They must take concrete steps to address our security concerns,” Kalyn said.

Turkey is considering the possibility of continuing dialogue with Sweden and Finland on this issue, he said.

As Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said earlier, the documents received from Sweden and Finland are “far from Ankara’s expectations“.
