Vice-Chancellor of Germany Habek admitted the deterioration of the economic situation in the country

Vice Chancellor of Germany, Minister of Economy and Climate Robert Habeck admitted that the economic situation in the country against the backdrop of changes in the energy sector could become “worse than during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

He said this at the annual congress of the association of German industry BDI.

The Vice Chancellor announced an “ambitious plan” to bring coal-fired power plants back in the event of an energy crisis. At the same time, he noted that, “of course, there are no guarantees that it will take place.”

Khabek also said that the gas storage facilities are almost 60% full. According to him, if Germany’s storage facilities are half full in winter, and “the gas valve is closed,” then in this case we will talk about a severe economic crisis that will affect Germany.

Earlier, Dutch Climate and Energy Minister Rob Jetten said that without additional measures, it is impossible to guarantee that Dutch and European gas storage facilities will be filled by winter.
