During the first debate of candidates for the post of Prime Minister of Great Britain, all participants refused to consider former Prime Minister Boris Johnson honest.

“The race for leadership among the members of the Conservative Party turned into a series of barbs and recriminations after the first public debate turned on disputes about taxes and identity politics, but none of the five candidates wanted to call Boris Johnson honest,” Peter Walker, the political expert said.

So, the former deputy minister for equality and local government, Kemi Beidnock, in response to the question of whether Johnson can be considered honest, said: “Sometimes.”

Undersecretary of Commerce Penny Mordont pointed to serious credibility issues with Johnson. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss spoke of the “mistakes” of the resigned British leader, while ex-treasury secretary Rishi Sunak noted that issues of “honesty and trust” were among the factors that influenced his departure from government. The chairman of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee, Tom Tugendhat, was the only one who could answer the question unequivocally, saying “no.”

After Johnson announced his resignation, he stressed that he would not publicly endorse any of the candidates. At the same time, he also held conversations with failed successor candidates and made it clear that Sunak should not become Prime Minister of Britain.
