Republicans want to submit Taiwan arms lend-lease bill to Congress

Representatives of the US Republican Party are preparing to submit to Congress a bill on the supply of weapons under Lend-Lease to Taiwan.

The authors of the legislative initiative were the member of the US House of Representatives Michelle Steele (representative of the Republican Party, from California) and the representative of the Republicans in the Senate of Congress Marsha Blackburn (Tennessee). The bill will allow US President Joe Biden to provide Taiwan with arms and military equipment, for which the administration of the island will have to pay within 12 years.

The bill is getting more and more support in the US Congress.

Chinese President Xi Jinping warned Washington in a telephone conversation with US President Joe Biden on Thursday against steps that could aggravate the situation around Taiwan. As the Chinese leader warned, “he who plays with fire will certainly set himself on fire.”
