The police of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo reported three skirmishes with unknown people in the north of the region on Sunday night, there is no information about the victims.

On Saturday evening, in an address to citizens, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić showed photographs, including those from the Kosovo Albanian media, showing soldiers of the self-proclaimed republic’s “special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs” in heavy equipment and with automatic weapons in the north of the region. He recalled that, according to the agreements reached earlier, the permission of the heads of municipalities with a Serbian majority is required for the introduction of police special forces from Pristina there.

“Members of certain criminal groups that blocked several highways in the north from different points on three occasions shot at police squads who were on duty in the Gazivode Lake area, on their way to the Brnjak checkpoint,” the Kosovo police said on social networks.

“Police units in self-defense were forced to return fire on the criminals, who fled in an unknown direction. Also, according to local police squads, shots were heard in several areas,” the report says, there is no information about the victims of the incidents.

Kosovo Serbs on Saturday erected barricades on highways in the north of the region because of the detention by the Kosovo Albanian authorities of the former police officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the self-proclaimed republic, Dejan Pantic. Pantić, who, along with fellow Serbian police officers from Interior Ministry units in the north of the province, resigned in November, was detained on Saturday at the Yarina checkpoint when entering from central Serbia on suspicion of “terrorism.”

At night, the protesters set up tents to guard the barricades. The police of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, for their part, blocked the entry into the province for cars and pedestrians from central Serbia to the north of the province.
